About Education Congo

2023 Board meeting in Nashville, TN

Stronger Congo

A stronger Congo through education

Education Congo is devoted to a simple vision of a stronger and more stable Congo—one that will be accomplished through strengthening higher education.

Established in 1998 as a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Education Congo is comprised of loyal supporters from a variety of business, church, education, healthcare and philanthropic backgrounds.

Scholarships, institutional support, special projects

Education Congo's mission is to provide scholarships and institutional support to Congolese universities. We also raise funds to support programs and projects aimed at enhancing the quality of higher education in Congo.

The founders of Education Congo have seen the youth of Congo become the next generation of leaders.

Uniquely positioned board of directors

Working as a 100% volunteer team with diverse skillsets, Education Congo's board members are uniquely positioned with strong ties to Congo. Many have lived in Congo. Others grew up there.

Because of these deep connections with the Congo, our board has been able to establish and maintain direct oversight, monitoring and personal accountability in a country notorious for corruption and instability. Education Congo board members make frequent trips to Congo. In order for this kind of aid to be effective in the Congo, personal relationships and oversight are essential!
